It was exactly what i needed: After two weeks of suffering with a near death experience (aka man-flu) and a rather annoying start into the work week it was time to shake that off. Help would be coming from the great Spucke (can wait to see their LP appearing with the Shitshow LP at my doorsteps) paired with the crazy raw garage speed metal of The Monsters (outta dead boring Bern, Switzerland).
Spucke kicked it off, unfortunately not in front of a fully packed Hafenklang. Because as far as i am concerned that is what they should be getting.

Besides the lights being rather shitty (drown-the-band-in-red it was) they delivered a perfect tight set. Their approach with almost everybody singing is just plain cool and makes listening to them more than worthwhile.
Good news is that they are working on more vinyl and they went on to play some new songs. What did the lot get?
They got this:

I dig them ever since i saw then on the M/S Hedi, supporting Public House. I can only recommend to check them out and give their record a chance (and an order).
Get your copy from La Pochette Surprise now! Best together with the Shitshow LP, that is a great Hamburg pairing!
The Monsters next and they are around now for 40 years. 40 fucking years. Did not realize that one earlier, but here is what they set out to haunt:

From the start they delivered high speed raw garage with a great dose of mental errr metal. Or both. Total craze by off stage humble, shy and rather Swizz gentlemen. They had more people in front of the stage compared to Spucke, sure thing, they are a mainstay over here in Hamburg and at the Hafenklang.

They tick so many boxes with me (surprising for a band themed by-and-large Garage) and one of those little bonuses is simply stage uniform: Not only the trio on stage, also their sound man comes as part of the package.
But most importantly they also know how to kill it. Listen up youth!
And yes, also cool is that all 3 front the stage. More bands that come in such minimum configuration should try that!
They also came with their 10th and latest record in tow, a real trashy DIY & basement recording. And still very well capable in fucking shit up.
Get it from Vooodoo Rhythm Records or get most of their back catalog from our trusted local dealer Sounds Of Subterrania!
Perfect evening, though missing plenty of regulars. Only Luke held the flare (and the Jever) up. But for me it was just what i needed, taking the long trip home via public transport i was happy as a fuck and ready to take on fucking work on Thursday.
On top i was lucky to capture the essence of The Monsters in a single shot – click to download the high res version.

Gimme more of this, gimme so much more of this. Hard, loud, fast and raunchy. Thanks Hafenklang, again!
