Period. Und neben Taschenb\u00fcchern gibt es endlich auch Hardcover, das freut mein Sammlerherz.<\/p>\n<p>Gravesend ist ein cooler Name f\u00fcr ein Buch, zu cool um ausgedacht zu sein: Es handelt sich um einen kleinen und alten <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gravesend,_Brooklyn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bezirk<\/a><\/em> in Brooklyn, NYC.\u00a0 Und dort hat Ray Boy Calabrese vor 16 Jahren einen schwulen Jungen in den Tod getrieben und damit das Leben f\u00fcr sich, f\u00fcr die Familie des Opfers und f\u00fcr alle anderen nachhaltig ver\u00e4ndert.<\/p>\n<p>Und als er aus dem Knast kommt will die Familie des Opfers nichts als Rache. Und ab da wird dieses Buch ein echtes Kunstwerk. Was f\u00fcr Helden:<\/p>\n<p><em>Ray Boy Calabrese<\/em> &#8211; ein M\u00f6rder der nichts lieber machen w\u00fcrde als &#8230; zu Sterben. <em>Conway D\u2019Innocenzio<\/em> &#8211; ein Bruder auf Rache, der aber keine Rache nehmen kann. <em>Alessandra Biagini<\/em> &#8211; hat es aus Gravesend raus nach Hollywood geschafft und kommt als angehimmelte Heldin zur\u00fcck (und ist nichts davon). <em>Eugene<\/em> &#8211; der durchgeknallte Neffe von Ray Boy will auch gerne ein Gangster sein und geht &#8230; den Bach runter.<\/p>\n<p>Atmosph\u00e4risch schon dunkel und sehr dicht, dazu extrem nah an den Gef\u00fchlen der Charakter. Dazu mit der notwendigen H\u00e4rte und dem notwendigen Elend. Denn so richtig klasse ist es in Gravesend nicht, ist ehr so <em>run-down<\/em>. Und das an allen Ecken und Enden.<\/p>\n<p>Es gibt nur einen Weg und der ist <em>down-hill<\/em>. Ein Weg, der in diesem Buch dann auch mit einer wunderbaren Spannung untermalt wird &#8211; was genau passiert ist auch f\u00fcr den erfahrenen <em>crime\u00a0connaisseur\u00a0<\/em>nicht wirklich zu erraten.<\/p>\n<p>Wow &#8211; das ist ein echter Hit. Nicht wirklich pure Crime sondern eine eiskalte Draufsicht auf eine kleine Gemeinde. <em>Gravesend we are, ain&#8217;t we<\/em>? Unbedingt lesen. Jetzt! Sofort!<\/p>\n<p>Und was hat William Boyle so zu sagen?<\/p>\n<pre>Knowing how much film and music mean to you, I wanted to ask what it is the novel allows you. Money and melody aside, what is it we get from novels that we can\u2019t get from stories told through cinematography and song?\r\n\r\n\r\n<em>Man, that\u2019s a good question, and it\u2019s something I think about a lot. \r\n\r\nI\u2019m not a musician and I\u2019m not a filmmaker (though I sometimes wish I was), so fiction is the only way I know to tell stories and the novel is my preferred form because, as much as I love tightness and economy, I also love being able to stretch my legs out. \r\n\r\nBut as someone who is constantly consuming films and albums and books, I\u2019d have to say it\u2019s just more of a feeling: I live inside books the way I don\u2019t live inside movies or albums, even favorites like <\/em>Badlands<em> and McCabe &amp; Mrs. Miller or <\/em>In the Aeroplane Over the Sea<em> and <\/em>Magnolia Electric Co<em>. Or maybe it\u2019s just a different kind of existence within the work. I don\u2019t think watching films or listening to music is passive, it\u2019s not that. \r\n\r\nThe best books work their way into your blood in a way that\u2019s so full, so mystical. I just read Willy Vlautin\u2019s newest novel, <\/em>The Free<em>, and it was my life for the two days I was reading. It\u2019s the same with other favorites \u2013 <\/em>Ironweed<em>, <\/em>Jesus\u2019 Son<em>, <\/em>The Easter Parade<em>, <\/em>The Death of Jim Loney<em>, too many more to name. These books just hammer their rhythms into me, and I\u2019m creating things in my mind even as a world is being presented to me. \r\n\r\nThat\u2019s how I feel when I\u2019m writing too, like I\u2019m inside of something big, like I\u2019m tiling a world into place.\r\n\r\nSource: http:\/\/fictionwritersreview.com\/interview\/it-belongs-to-the-neighborhood-an-interview-with-william-boyle\/\r\n<\/em><\/pre>\n<p>Yep, der hat eine gute Sicht auf die Welt!
