Hard, fast and plenty of screams by that tiny girl on vocals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And on top this video snippet sure added visuals to it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"SLANT(\uc2ac\ub79c\ud2b8)  @Orange studio, Korea (March 2019)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VgglwjeSRvs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yep, that sounds and looks interesting. And that was not only for me, also for many others. To no surprise their boat trip show on the tiny MS Hedi was sold out upfront and to an even bigger surprise everybody showed up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As such the MS Hedi was packed. Once it set sail into the surprisingly mild evening and calm river the lot packed the space around the setup &#8230; and no band to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It took a while until Slant manned the rigs and performed their first set. And i would guess within 12 minutes that was over. From where i stood the sound was sub-optimal and for me it came across as very basic H\/C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> \n<!-- Start container 1 --><div id=\"wppa-modal-container-1\" After, let&#8217;s guess 30 minutes, Slant took the helm for a 2nd set and that one made much more click with me (maybe because i relocated): Drive, umpf and less basic hardcore but a very modern sound (though they performed only as a 4 piece with one guitar).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It sounded very much like on their recent demo (for the 2023 Japan tour):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div><iframe style=\"border: 0; width: 100%; height: 120px;\" src=\"https:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/album=3950692011\/size=large\/bgcol=ffffff\/linkcol=0687f5\/tracklist=false\/artwork=small\/transparent=true\/\" seamless><a href=\"https:\/\/slant.bandcamp.com\/album\/demo-2023\">Demo 2023 by SLANT<\/a><\/iframe><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But also the 2nd set was over just within minutes (let&#8217;s say 11), though to much cheer from the audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I had a bit a fear that people would only ever dig them because of the novelty status (a band from Korea over at these shores) but in hindsight i take it that was wrong. Slant proved a genuine and well oiled band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where they really suited for the MS Hedi? My take would be &#8211; nope. I would rather want to see them upstairs at the Hafenklang with a 25 minute set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was entertaining but way to &#8230; crisp.
