class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aus dem Englischen von Karen Witthuhn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hui, da hab ich das Hardcover bei Ars Vivendi in 2020 aber verpasst, keine Ahnung warum mir das durchgerutscht ist. Denn Ort und Thema sind genau mein Ding: L.A. und das gro\u00dfe Chaos, dazu ist die Geschichte quasi die Fiktion zu einem echten Ereignis:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1991 wurde ein junges schwarzes M\u00e4dchen, Latasha Harlins, erschossen. Von einer koreanischen Ladenbesitzerin. Die daf\u00fcr zwar verurteilt wurde, jedoch nicht in den Knast musste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Das &#8220;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Killing_of_Latasha_Harlins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Killing of Latasha Harlins<\/a><\/em>&#8221; gilt als einer der Ausl\u00f6ser der <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1992_Los_Angeles_riots\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">1992 Riots<\/a><\/em> in L.A. und als Katalyst daf\u00fcr, das das schwarze L.A. quasi \u00fcber <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Koreatown,_Los_Angeles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Koreatown<\/a><\/em> hergefallen ist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die Geschichte im Buch nimmt den Tod von Latasha in 1991 als Triggerpunkt und setzt dagegen einen fiktiven Anschlag auf die koreanische Ladenbesitzerin 2019. In diesem Spannungsbogen zeigt uns Steph Cha, die selbst einen <em>American Korean<\/em> Hintergrund hat, dann was sowohl die Koreaner als auch die Schwarzen in L.A. so an Rassismus aushalten m\u00fcssen und was sie selbst austeilen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Koreaner sind Kaufleute, die die Schwarzen \u00fcber den Tisch ziehen. Schwarze sind Gangster, die Koreaner ausrauben und killen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Und die Wei\u00dfen, die lehnen sich entspannt zur\u00fcck. Oder bringen die Story als Journalist. Oder verdienen als Anwalt. Oder haben ihren T\u00e4ter als Polizist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All das bringt Steph Cha in einem kleinen Kosmos unter, eine koreanische Familie und eine schwarze Familie reichen daf\u00fcr. Und unterm Teppich, tief im Keller, da hockt das alte Gespenst der Blutrache.
